- Signed letter of intent to attend the University of Miami (Fla.) on a baseball scholarship in 1981.
- Opted to sign a professional baseball contract after being drafted by the Chicago Cubs (2nd pick, 3rd round, 54th pick overall) in the June 1981 amateur draft.
- Played 8 years of professional baseball (1981-1988) for the Chicago Cubs (1981-83), New York Mets (1984 and 1988) and Houston Astros (1984-87) organizations.
- Starting pitcher for entire career.
- Traded for Terry Leach in 1983 to the New York Mets.
- Traded for Ray Knight in 1984 to the Houston Astros.
- Signed with the New York Mets as a free agent in 1988.
- Released by Mets and retired from baseball after 3rd rotator cuff/labrum surgery during 1988 season.
- Won two minor league championships, 1984 and 1986.
- Voted minor league right-handed pitcher of the year for the Mets organization in 1984 after going 16-4, 2.76 ERA.
- Career record 47-35.
- Elected to Carolina League All-Star team in 1984.
- Assistant Golf Professional for the past 5 years (2004-2009).
- Currently an Apprentice Level 1 in Professional Golf Association (PGA).
- Lifetime member, Association of Professional Ball Players of America.
Currently resides in Stevensville, Maryland with wife Megan, golden retriever Maggie and mastiff Bailey.
