Matt Acevedo, Instructor

Matt is coming off his first year of professional baseball where he played a summer in the New York State League for the New York State Capitols. He finished top three in hitting in his league and has recently signed a new contract for the 2009 season in Texas for the Continental Baseball League.

Matt, a New York native, was a three year varsity letterman for Carmel High School in Carmel, N.Y. where he received a scholarship to go play at the Division 1 Junior College, Young Harris in Georgia. After a year and a half there, he transferred to St. Petersburg Jr. College in Clearwater, FL. The remainder of his college baseball career was spent at Columbia Union College in Tacoma Park, MD. During his two years there, he was a two time first team USCAA All-American and currently holds many of the school’s hitting records.

Matt has recently become a hitting instructor for the Academy, and has worked since earlier this year on the Athletic Edge staff as an Assistant Trainer

Matt resides in Bowie Maryland.
