Jay Witasick

Jay Witasick, a former Major League pitcher and current Director of Baseball Operations for The L. Warner Companies, is also an advisor and current Board member for the BATT Academy.

As Director of Baseball Operations, Jay Witasick provides a wealth of experience to TWC clients, taking a pro-active approach with issues athletes confront on a daily basis. Working closely with his clients, he offers developmental advice, career management skills, and the guidance they need before, during, and after their playing career.

Jay’s professional baseball career spanned over 15 professional seasons, including 10 years in the Major Leagues. The Houston Astros selected Jay in the 1991 MLB Free Agent Draft, but he declined the opportunity to turn professional, choosing instead to complete his education and to further develop his baseball skills. In 1993 the St. Louis Cardinals selected Jay in the second round of the MLB Draft. After a few years of minor league experience, he was called up by the Oakland Athletics, making his MLB debut on July 7, 1996. In addition to having two stints each with the Athletics and the San Diego Padres, Jay played for the Colorado Rockies, Kansas City Royals, New York Yankees, San Francisco Giants and Tampa Bay Devil Rays. A right-handed pitcher, he appeared in two World Series during his career.

After the 2007 MLB Season, Jay made the transition into sports management while working for Beverly Hills Sports Council, recruiting some of the nation’s current top players, and providing draft advisory and client services.

As a student at C. Milton Wright High School in Bel Air, Maryland, he earned distinction in both baseball and football and was among the first school alumni to be inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame. With full academic and athletic scholarships, Jay attended Brevard (FL) Community College and the University of Maryland Baltimore County, where he studied business management.  Jay resides in Bel Air, Maryland, where he is active in local baseball programs and is an honorary board member of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Harford County.

Jay’s extensive Major League Baseball career, leadership qualities, knowledge of the industry, and commitment to excellence provide a solid foundation that uniquely qualifies him as a Sports Agent and Advisor.
